“No child should be denied the opportunity to pursue the arts regardless of
their personal circumstances.”
The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF) originated with the conviction that children from financially-disadvantaged backgrounds should be given the opportunity to pursue their talents and interest in the arts. The fund aims to level the playing field in the arts for these children and to nurture their talent in the arts.
Managed by The RICE Company Limited, BT BAF was initiated in 2004 and adopted by The Business Times in 2005. BT BAF has reached out to more than 14,000 children through art camps, workshops, signature events and structured programmes.
More than 1,300 children and youths have also benefited from the fully-sponsored arts training programmes conducted at The Little Arts Academy (LAA) and 10 Square @ Orchard Central (10sq).
BT BAF empowers young people, in their ambition to pursue an arts training. By focusing on the arts, BT BAF encourages the development of creativity, self-worth and leadership amongst the young.
